Dr. Matthew Reuter is a physical medicine and rehabilitation physician who focuses on electromyography, peripheral joint injections and the treatment of chronic musculoskeletal conditions. He takes a multimodal approach to restoring function in patients with a goal of helping them regain and expand their ability to participate in daily activities, especially sports participation. He views electromyography as important to diagnosing a number of conditions and seeks to identify specific individual nerves as sources of pain with this study.
He earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine in 2011, where he also served as a research assistant in the department of orthopedic surgery. He completed an internship at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch, New Jersey and his residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. Prior to joining Interventional Spine and Sports Medicine Dr. Reuter was an ambulatory physiatrist at Hartford HealthCare and Brown University Health in Rhode Island, where he also was a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Brown University School of Medicine. Dr. Reuter is a Connecticut native, born in Greenwich and raised in Newtown, who is excited to be back home.
Dr. Reuter is fluent in English and Spanish. In his free time Dr. Reuter participates avidly in golf, tennis, and the Winter Olympic sport of curling. He also supports efforts to establish a men’s lacrosse team at his alma mater Columbia University.
